A bunch of new works, a little Jekyll & Hyde

This silk hand painted art quilt is titled. " English Cottage Garden".
It is an original work. I painted the silk using silk paints and colored inks from a compilation of drawings from my garden photos After hand painting the silk background, I separately painted the numerous cottage flowers. There's lots of typical english flowers from foxgloves to Iceburg roses. Then the flowers were all appliqued on and thread painted. But I think that the real star is the quilting, all done without any marking, on my domestic machine. The size is 35 X 19". The cost- $370.00

" Tangerine Sky" is an original silk art quilt. It has the sunniest most luminous colors, as silk conveys so well. I hand painted all the silk, the flowers were done seperately, then appliqued on . The silk paints were combined with acrylic inks, making a very unique look. The quilting was done to blend with the style of the abstract back drop.I tsed thread painting to add another layer of interest. It is 20 X35". $325.00
"Gramma's Hollyhocks"is hand painted silk. The the leaves & hollyhocks & stems were drawn separately, then hand painted & appliqued on with a trapunto like effect -[raised slightly]. Thread painting was used to add further design detail, as does the quilting, It measures 46 X 27", a fairly large size. $335.00
Hyde or is that Jekyll? I always mix them up. But flowers, flowers, flowers, then crows. Go figure. This is a Truly Original and Unique, Contemporary art quilt in earthy colors. The subject matter; an old knurled tree with crows or ravens [if you prefer] landing on it, is unique, to say the least. As different as that sounds, it works extremely well. It may not your typical theme of flowers and bees, but it is an outstanding piece of fiber art. Hand painted silk with applique & thread painted. The size is 37 X 19". $350.00

This is an original contemporary abstract art quilt.. It has wonky piecing in a rainbow of fun colors, violet, gold, blue. Many batiks were used. The custom quilting was done in varing bright colors, it makes the quilt. The size is 48 X18 ". $145.00

Well Lynn in a way you're right, many of them are silk painted, then they have been appliqued and thread painted. Then quilted.I use silk paints and acrylic colored inks instead of dye. They are colorfast.Yet it allows you to have more control.

The light pink hollyhocks look just like the ones growing in my backyard.
I came back to look again. All very very well done, beautiful works of art!
