Inspired by Autumn Leaves

Capturing the Sun
13" x 13"
Sharon V. Rotz

Hi, Sharon here, on a lovely autumn day. I love the color of the season and can't resist the temptation to capture  (and save) a bit of the brilliance in my quilts.

Inspired by colorful autumn leaves, these small quilts are fused using hand-dyed cottons and silks.

The background is an over-dyed cotton. Over-dying starts with a commercially printed cotton and then dyed to create a new look.

Machine quilting and hand stitched beads add detail.

You can follow the complete process for making these quilts by clicking here.

Love the colors and beads. Are those sequins? Lovely pieces.

All the power without the work. The black on the background is the print of the fabric. Now that I see it it would look like sequins. What an idea for another project! Thanks for the comments.

Great combination of colors and quilting on the leaves.
