Barcelona Preview

A little peak at my Barcelona quilt in progress. I love this challenge... but it was so hard to get started.  I found this project had too many sources of inspiration.  It took me a long time to be able to narrow my focus.

Looking forward to the end on the week for the reveal on Art Quilts Around the World Blog!

Working from the Back

Hi, Sharon again.
I am speaking of using a heavy (in this case, metallic) thread in the bobbin and stitching the design on the wrong side of the fabric.  The heavy thread is usually hand-wound onto the bobbin. The bobbin thread needs to be adjusted (loosened) so the thread can pull out freely. I've also heard of by-passing the bobbin tension completely.

I used "Hyra-stick Tearaway Light" as a stabilizer. It as an adhesive that is water activated.

Since I am a novice at this, I'm sure many of you have helpful hints which you can pass along. We are all looking to improve our work so please feel free to comment.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi, Sharon here.

Today I've tried some bobbin work. Since I haven't done this much before, it was fun to experiment.

Have you tried this technique? What are your best suggestions?
